Somerset County Council works with global engineering consultancy firm, Atkins, in order to deliver some of its highways and transportation services. We have enjoyed a 12-year partnership with the major provider of engineering consultancy services in the UK. Their support to us includes highways and local transport scheme construction, planned and reactive maintenance, winter maintenance, top-up design services for local transport engineering, bridges and other structures and transport planning work.
We have all benefited from this partnership. Somerset County Council staff have access to the wider Atkins business network. Atkins have helped to bring innovative best practice to Somerset and many members of staff have enjoyed access to further professional development opportunities through this association.
